I am enthusiastically writing about Lana, the math tutor. I have known Lana since April 2012 through the Tutor doctor. Lana was sent to my house when I requested a math tutor to help my struggling child. It was too far into the academic year but within a month when Lana tutored my child his grade got into the B – range. Lana passion of math translated to my child and his love and motivation for math was reactivated. Her quiet and nurturing demeanor is an asset that every child could benefit from. Now that school is done for the summer, Lana is helping my child get a heads up in the PSAT.

Dear Concerned Mom ,
I am writing to you as a reference for math tutor Svetlana Gekhman.
Svetlana taught my son from grades 3- 5 and later for the SATs and
tutored my older daughter from grade 7 until junior 3rd yr of high
school. My son hated math because he had trouble doing the homework.
Svetlana used math games and puzzles to teach my son and to my
surprise he started having fun with math. Svetlana made him really
understand the concepts he was not grasping at school. Soon my son was
much stronger at math and Svetlana gave him supplemental assignments
for practice and taught him the best ways to think about and approach
different kinds of math problems. By 6th grade he was already one of
the top students in his math classes! My daughter was just OK at math
but also had problem conceptualizing different concepts and was
struggling in high school. Svetlana worked with her on homework and
taught her how to approach all of the problems she was seeing. My
daughter got a grasp of all the material quickly and was soon having
no trouble at all. My daughter also prepared for AP tests and the SATs
with Svetlana and always did very well. She got a 1520/1600 on her SAT
and my son a 2280 (when the test was out of 2400).She is a very kind, patient woman and a great tutor and I recommend

I have nothing but praise for her. She is a supportive, patient, experienced and very professional teacher. She has a talent for making complicated issues look simple and obvious. Even though my son is not a big fan of math (to put it mildly), he always looked forward to classes with Svetlana because, as any good teacher, she is also a good psychologist and works equally well with middle and high school children, as well as college students.
